Repertoire - Old Country
The Bard remembers hearing Hank Williams on the radio as a kid, but never understood the pull of his music until well into adulthood. Old country music is about simple emotions, real things, the stuff that affects the people who are around you. Its words and themes are clear, melodies are foremost, and the singers look like folks you'd meet on the street. That's old country; the new stuff sounds more like old rock and it smacks of over-arranged pop. The old stuff is a direct descendant of traditional folk music, the biggest difference being electrical (microphones, radios, media, guitars, recordings...).
You can read about his repertoire in the sub pages.. but while you're here....
